Mouldlife Ltd are an official pad grade silicone distributor and target the main manufacturs of the pads. Our range of BlueStar 3130 and the 3132 (anti-static) grade. We are actively selling the 3130 to three UK customers. The 3132 is on trial with two of our customers and first stock due in soon.
The benefit of the anti-static grade is that it allows greater continuous use of the pad without the build-up of static electricity. It costs more and is a more specialist material, but some customers are turning to it.
The market is not as big as it was five years ago, but still considerable. Generally customers sell the Pad printing machines and the pads to go with it.
Pads can vary in size and appearence depending on their use.
Pad printing is the transfer of ink, via the pad to anoher surface. It was primarily used in the ceramics industry, for printing patterns on difficult surfaces, (curved etc.) But can also be used to print codes on the bases of tins etc.
Those who buy the silicone, will also need the silicone oil, to blend the silicone to the required softnes. They will also need a primer/adhesive to bond the pad to a backing plate (usually Aluminium or plywood).
